DAY 1 | ARRIVAL AT SAN JOSE

Welcome to San Jose, Costa Rica. We will meet you at the airport, a representative will be waiting for you with a sign with your name at the airport exit and will transfer you to your hotel. Once in the capital city, you can visit the theaters, museums, and beautiful parks or simply enjoy a cup of Costa Rican coffee while watching the daily life of the «Ticos».

DAY 2 | SAN JOSE – PUERTO VIEJO

Transfer to the South Caribbean, a place to visit the different beaches that surround it. Highlights include the coral reefs of Playa Cahuita, in addition to the multicolored sandy beaches (from black, yellow, and gray), coastal vegetation, and forests of medium height.  Don’t forget to interact with the locals and learn a little about their customs and traditions. Also, we invite you to try the Patí or Rice & Beans which will leave you with a Caribbean flavor to remember.

DAY 3 | JAGUAR RESCUE CENTER

The Jaguar Rescue Center, managed by the Ceiba Primary Forest Foundation, is an organization that rescues and rehabilitates wild animals to release them and return them to protected areas. During 2020 alone, for example, they received 803 animals, of which 363 were released, 123 remained in rehabilitation, and 317 couldn´t survive.

Approximately 50% are mammals and the rest are birds and reptiles. During your visit to the JRC Sanctuary, you will discover different kinds of wild animals such as monkeys, sloths, wild cats, raccoons, and reptiles, as well as different kinds of birds. You will also be able to observe many of Costa Rica’s venomous snake species. The amount of the donation for your visit will be invested entirely in the animals.

DAY 4 | PUERTO VIEJO BEACH

Day at leisure in Puerto Viejo beach. Look for the optional tours suggested.

DAY 5 | PUERTO VIEJO – VOLCAN POAS

Transfer to Poas, where you will find the Poas Volcano National Park, which has one of the largest craters in the world and is in the mountainous forests of the Central Volcanic Cordillera. Along the way, you will see agricultural plantations such as pineapple and tubers, among others, until you start the ascent through the rainforest. On the way you will be surrounded by beautiful landscapes and views that will make your route a very pleasant journey, and that will accompany you to your hotel, located right at the foot of the Poas Volcano.

DAY 6 | POAS – ISLA CHIQUITA

We offer a convenient transfer from San José to Puntarenas, where you’ll take the ferry to Paquera. Once in Paquera, Isla Chiquita Hotel will coordinate your pickup and take you directly to your destination on the island. Enjoy a hassle-free journey and immerse yourself in the beauty of Isla Chiquita!

DAY 7 | ISLA CHIQUITA – BIOLUMINSCENCE TOUR

An evening boating adventure in search of the area’s nocturnal wonders. From rock outcroppings glistening in the night to the sight of nocturnal fauna. Live the quest for bioluminescence, a natural phenomenon that makes the water sparkle. Visibility may be affected by ambient light, moon phases, wind, and sea currents.

DAY 8 | ISLA CHIQUITA – SANTA TERESA

Transfer to Santa Teresa, where you can visit the Cabo Blanco & Curu Biological Reserve; a destination, where you will enjoy the tropical forest and its ecosystem. There is the possibility to observe howler monkeys, white-faced monkeys, a wide variety of birds, and other animals. Perfect for those who enjoy bird watching and love nature.

DAY 9 | SANTA TERESA – YOGA CLASS

Begin your day with a restorative yoga session at Tropico Latino Hotel, designed to reconnect body, mind, and spirit in a tranquil beachfront setting. Embrace the rest of the day at your own rhythm, whether it’s meditating, journaling, or simply being present in nature.

DAY 10 | SANTA TERESA – WATERFALLS TRAILS

A stunning trio of waterfalls awaits visitors, each offering its unique charm. The waterfalls are 5, 12, and 25 meters tall, creating a breathtaking scene in the heart of nature. At the base of these falls, natural pools have formed, inviting you to swim, relax, and fully immerse yourself in the serene surroundings. It’s an ideal spot to unwind and connect with the beauty of the landscape, offering an unforgettable experience for nature lovers and adventurers alike.

DAY 11 | SANTA TERESA – SAN JOSE

Transfer to the capital of San José, one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Latin America. The city is located at a strategic point near the main tourist attractions such as historical buildings, museums, theaters, craft markets, beautiful parks, shopping malls, and offers a varied gastronomic offer.

  • Confirm with your embassy if you need a VISA to enter to Costa Rica. Purposeful Tours is not responsible if a guest does not have all the necessary documentation to enter the country. The foreigner who travels to Costa Rica must ensure that the validity of his passport is not less than six months to enter the national territory.
